What is SEER and what does it measure? SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, a ratio that measures cooling efficiency by indicating how your air conditioning unit uses electricity. In general, the higher the SEER rating, the less electricity your unit uses to cool your home. Typical SEER ratings for units made before 1992 is approximately six (6), and 10 for units installed in new homes after 1992. SEER for high efficiency air conditioning units is at least 12, with 17 the maximum ratio for any unit. A Jayson technician can answer your questions about your air conditioning SEER, and will be happy to talk with you about air conditioning systems that are most effective for your home or office.
