  • Hard Water:

Before the water we use every day is collected, it flows over rocks and soil that dissolve naturally occurring minerals into the water supply. In many areas, the concentration of minerals such as calcium and magnesium precipitate is high enough to cause what is commonly called "hard water". The hard white crust that forms around your water faucet it is caused by these mineral deposits. Hard water may cause many other unpleasant problems, including:

  • Stains on toilets, bathtubs and other surfaces
  • Hard white scales on faucets and other metal surfaces
  • Clogged faucets and shower heads
  • Slow running pipes due to mineral deposits
  • Corroded and pitted pipes and appliances
  • Stains on clothes
  • Soaps and detergents won’t lather
  • Dingy laundry with a rough feeling of detergent residue
  • Sticky soap scum in sinks, washer and shower
  • Spots on dishes, glassware and silverware
  • Dry, rough and itchy skin and other skin problems
  • Dry, damaged and unmanageable hair
  • Unpleasant smells or tastes in water

  • Hard water problems can all be addressed quickly and effectively with a top quality 3M water softening system from The Jayson Company.

    Drinking Water Problems:

The chemicals and other contaminants that end up in our water supply are highly complex and hard to treat. Decades of household, farm and industrial waste, including solvents, pesticides and herbicides don’t simply disappear, they dissolve into our water, and there is no such thing as “new water.” All the water we use, including bottled water, has been used, filtered and reused since the beginning of time. Municipal water treatment meets certain standards, but there are many limitations to what can be accomplished and other chemicals, such as chlorine, are added to water to neutralize more harmful contaminants. Private well water is even more at risk and must be regularly tested for contaminants according to New Jersey state laws. Bottled water is extremely expensive, is no better than most tap water (in fact many are nothing more than bottled tap water), is less regulated than tap water and is a serious environmental pollutant.

    Bottled Water Problems

Most people buy bottled water for convenience and assume it is healthier than tap water. But bottled water is really just a conveniently packaged problem for your health, your budget and the entire plant. You can do better:
    • Bottled water is EXTREMELY expensive: Most bottled water costs the consumer from 2,000 to 10,000 the cost of drinking tap water.
    • Bottled water is an environmental hazard: What you drink today will cause problems for many generations. 75 percent of used plastic bottled water bottles are in landfills, streams, lakes and oceans where they leach harmful chemicals into the our water supplies forever and endanger fish and wildlife.
    • Bottled water is not better than tap water: A study by NRDC showed 17% of bottled water contained levels of bacteria, arsenic and other toxic chemicals too high to pass strict EPA safety standards. And approximately 25% of bottled water is directly from the tap.
    • Plastic water bottles are not a wise choice for health: Wonder why people are warned not to drink from plastic water bottles stored in a hot car? Water is a solvent; that’s why things dissolve in water. It may take thousands of years, but as their chemical compounds slowly dissolve the plastic bottles will break down into smaller pieces. Not good news for the environment and not good for you.

Alternatives: Filling portable water bottles from you own bottleless filtered water system provides consistent water quality at an extremely low cost compared to bottled water, and you can choose the type of filtration that is just right for your needs. For best taste and peace of mind, be sure to forego plastic portable containers and choose glass, ceramic or metal instead.

Water Pitcher Filters: Water pitcher filters are another popular product for improving water quality and taste. While they can be useful, they hold a very limited amount of water and many people find them annoying to refill and store. Unlike custom water filtration systems, water filter pitchers only remove certain contaminants. Most important is that water pitcher filters do not solve source water problems as do whole house water filtration or water purification systems. One user of water purification equipment states on an online forum: “I found the whole pitcher thing to be expensive and an unnecessary pain. So I ended up buying an under-the-sink two-stage sediment GAC (Granulated Activated Charcoal) filter and never looked back. It's quite a bit cheaper over time compared to a [filter pitcher brand name] type filter, the filters hardly ever need to be replaced (equals less trouble for you and less plastic waste overall) and you only need to open the little tap to have instant filtered water with no waiting for it to percolate into a pitcher.”

Perchlorate: The presence of perchlorate salts in wells and drinking water sources has been linked to hormonal balances and impedes human reproduction and development. According to the EPA, "Perchlorate is both a naturally occurring and man-made chemical that is used to produce rocket fuel, fireworks, flares and explosives. Perchlorate can also be present in bleach and in some fertilizers. Perchlorate may have adverse health effects because scientific research indicates that this contaminant can disrupt the thyroid’s ability to produce hormones needed for normal growth and development."The Jayson Company is the most experienced water treatment company in NJ with regard to Perchlorate removal. Jayson has worked diligently with the New Jersey DEP in the development, implementation and specification of a system which effectively addresses Perchlorate in water.

The Jayson Company is the only water treatment company in New Jersey documented to have successfully treated Perchlorate in domestic well water supplies and to have been awarded contracts for Perchlorate removal from both the NJ Department of Environmental Protection (NJ DEP) and the US Department of Environmental Protection (US DEP).

"The Jayson Company installed a new water softening system for my multi-family home. The salesperson was punctual & knowledgeable. He described the work to be performed, where the equipment would go and tested the water hardness. I liked his willingness to educate about the system. The work was performed as described and the plumber showed up on time. He explained exactly what he was going to do, and did it. The work was completed within expected time frame. Results:bathroom tiles look cleaner between showers, water tastes better, water feels silky & soap suds galore and less skin irritation - the main reason we put the unit in."
